No more than a fair handicap hurdle for the grade. MICK JEROME, who unseated early on his debut for this yard at Cheltenham last week (had been showing useful form on the Flat in Scandanavia), was prominent throughout and, as he is not that big, his rider claimed a handy 10lb. He was moving best on straightening for home and, having gone on two out, he got well on top after the last. This fellow will not be rushed out under a penalty and probably needs to improve to defy a rise. Colophony, put up 10lb for last month's cosy course and distance victory, travelled strongly into contention and it was between just two straightening for home. He was headed two out and could find no extra from the last, ending up well held. |

Absolut Power, who ran well on the Flat at Newmarket last month, stayed on again close home to take third off Victorias Groom. The latter travelled up well down the back and had his chance, but was beaten before the second last. Dancing Mist was never travelling particularly well, receiving early reminders, and failed to build on the promise he showed in novice events. Kerriemuir Lass ran well for a long way, but was beaten before taking two out and could soon find no extra. | |
